Marinette is a city located in Marinette County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 11,749. It is the county seat of Marinette County.
Marinette is home to UW-Marinette, a junior college run by the University of Wisconsin System. UW-Marinette is best known for Theatre on the Bay, a very successful community theatre program run by Dr. Douglas W. Larche.
In 2003, the Pete Schwaba film The Godfather of Green Bay was shot in Marinette and its neighboring city, Menominee, Michigan.
