St. Albans is a town located in Franklin County, Vermont. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 5,086. St. Albans is on the shore of Lake Champlain. It was the site of the northernmost battle of the American Civil War. Gunfire and robbery caused terror when Confederate soldiers rode in from the north.
Featuring events honoring maple syrup, the Vermont Maple Festival is held in St. Albans each year.
