Red Oak is a city located in Ellis County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,301. More recent estimates of the city's population give it as 6200. A local council of governments projects that number to grow to upwards of 60,000 by the year 2030, as it is on the verge of explosive suburban growth.
The mayor of Red Oak, Todd Little, appeared on NBC's Today program on July 13, 2004, speaking on the ramifications of homeland security on the upcoming presidential election.
