Montague is a community in central Montague County, Texas. It is the county seat of Montague County, and as of the 1990 census had a population of 400.
Montague was created in 1858, and was named for Daniel Montaugue, an early surveyor. By 1880 the town had grown to match its current size, and it was incorprated as a town in 1886.
