Lockhart is a city located in Caldwell County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 11,615. It is the county seat of Caldwell County. Located in central Texas, Lockhart is southeast of Austin. It was the site of a victory of the Texans over the Comanche, at the Battle of Plum Creek in 1840.
