Mahanoy City is a borough located in northern Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 4,647.
Founded in 1863, the town was a major center of anthracite coal production and the city and its surroundings were embroiled in the Molly Maguire incidents. In 1948, Mahanoy City became one of the first municipalities in the country to have Cable TV.
