Kittanning is a borough located in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 4,787. It is the county seat of Armstrong County. It is located on the west bank of the Allegheny River, founded on the site of the 18th century Native American village of Kittanning at the western end of the Kittanning Path. The village was destroyed by a British raid in 1756 during the French and Indian War.
