Gold Beach is a city located in, and the county seat of Curry County, Oregon. At first, in the 1850s, named Ellensburg, Gold Beach took its permanent name from a beach near the mouth of the Rogue River where hundreds of placer mines extracted gold. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,897.
