Chardon is a city located in Geauga County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,156. It got its name from Peter Chardon Brooks, who donated land to build the historic Chardon Square. The square area caught fire and burned down one time in the late 1800s in the devastating Chardon fire. It is the county seat of Geauga County.
