Hamilton is a town located in Madison County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 5,733. The town is named after American patriot, Alexander Hamilton.
The Town of Hamilton contains a village also named Hamilton, the site of Colgate University. The town is on the county's south border.
