Bethpage is a census-designated place located in Nassau County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 16,543. It is a hamlet within the Town of Oyster Bay with its own school district. Early names for the area include Bedelltown, Jerusalem, and Jerusalem Station. From about 1867 until 1936 it was known as Central Park.
