International Falls is a city located in Koochiching County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 6,703. It is the county seat of Koochiching County. It is officially the coldest city in the continental United States with an average mean temperature of 36.4 degrees F, earning it the nickname "the Nation's Icebox." It also inspired the fictional city of Frostbite Falls in The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.
International Falls is located on the Rainy River directly across from Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada. The two cities are connected by a toll bridge.
