Biddeford Pool is a large tidal pool located off of Saco Bay in Southern Maine just south of Biddeford, Maine. Biddeford Pool is home to a small harbor that plays host to both vacationers as well as Maine's trademark lobstermen. The pool's water level fluctuates from a large navigable body of water during high tides to being a mostly muddy plain during low tides. The only exception is the area near the mouth of the pool which is much deeper from the in and out of the tidal waters. Consequently this is the area where most boats are moored. The pool is surrounded by tall grass marshes that are home to a variety of birds and other widelife.
Biddeford Pool is bounded by the mainland to the south and west, by Hills Beach to the North and by Biddeford Point and the village of Biddeford Pool to the east. Hills Beach and the village of Biddeford Point are popular summer destinations for visitors from as far south as Florida. Biddeford Pool is linked to nearby Biddeford via Maine State Route 208.
