Warrenville is a city located in DuPage County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 13,363.
Situated about forty miles west of Chicago, Warrenville was a farming community until suburban expansion caused a housing boom in the 70's and 80's.
There is an "old neighborhood," south, with mixed housing styles. There is a Forest Preserve neighborhood, east, with wooded-lot expensive multi-acre homes close to Cantigny War Museum, Cantigny Golf Course and Makee Marsh.
There is a generic, "cookie-cutter" subdivision, west, with winding streets next to Fermilab (world's largest superconducting particle accelerator ring). There is also a booming retail development area called "Cantera" to the southeast.
Warrenville is mostly dotted with a few strip malls, large forest preserves and small businesses. In stark contrast, the busy Cantera development sits on a southeastern "wing" of land that protrudes into neighboring Winfield and Naperville. There is an AMC 30 movie theater, several restaurants, a health club, shopping and hotels situated in this half square mile.
