Brookfield is a town located in northern Fairfield County, Connecticut. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 15,664. Originally called Newbury Parish, incorporating parts of neighboring Newtown and Danbury, the town was renamed Broofield in 1788 for the Reverend Brooks.
