Benson is a city located in Cochise County, Arizona, 45 miles east-southeast of Tucson. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,711, about 23% more than reported for the 1990 census.
The city was founded in 1880 when the Southern Pacific Railroad came through. It was named after Judge William B. Benson, a friend of the president of the railroad.Web Sites and Links
